Crazy about cauliflower? Here are three must-eat dishes every cauliflower fan needs to try in London!
In recent years, cauliflower has become one of the trendiest vegetables, and it's pretty clear why. It's versatile, super nutritious, low in carbs, and gluten-free! What's not to love?!
Here at Sunny & Luna, we're a little bit obsessed with cauliflower, and that's why our pasta is packed full of it! However, it's about time we stopped gatekeeping all of the other amazing cauli food creations you can find. So here's a roundup of some of the best cauliflower dishes in London that you must try!
1. Charred Cauliflower - Casa do Frango
Casa do Frango is famous for its traditional Portuguese tapas, which they serve in several locations around central London. The Charred Cauliflower is one of their most popular dishes (in fact, all the tables around us ordered one as well!). It's marinated in honey, lemon, and piri-piri seasoning and then topped with lime and coriander yoghurt and pistachios. After taking one bite, we understood what all the hype was about. The combination of ingredients creates a super light, fresh flavour, and the addition of the woody, slightly sweet pistachios takes this dish to a whole new level. If you think you'd never want to eat an entire head of cauliflower by yourself, try this dish, and your mind will certainly be changed!
2. Shanghai Cauliflower - Wingmans
This next delicious dish is a bit of a hidden gem because it's found at Wingmans, a restaurant that specialises in chicken wings. But, thankfully for all the vegetarians and vegans out there, their cauliflower wings are just as incredible! The cauliflower is perfectly crisp, without the batter being too heavy and the award-winning Shanghai oriental sauce was heavenly. We loved all the Asian-inspired flavours of this dish, especially the sesame seeds and the chili peppers that added a little kick. It's safe to say that we will definitely be dreaming about this Shanghai Cauliflower until we get to try it again!
3. Roasted Baby Cauliflower - Miznon
Last, but definitely not least, we visited Miznon, a cozy spot that serves dishes inspired by cities from all around the Mediterranean. This Roasted Baby Cauliflower was actually recommended to us by the founder of Sunny & Luna, Giulia. She's known to give the best food and beverage suggestions, and yet again, she was absolutely right about how unbelievably tasty this cauliflower was. This dish is just cauliflower, olive oil, and salt, but boy, is there beauty in simplicity! It was perfectly soft and buttery, and we ended up devouring the entire thing (including the leaves!) in no time.
All three of these cauliflower dishes were very different, but each was spectacular in its own way. It's crazy to think that one vegetable can be prepared in so many ways and be used in so many international cuisines! Even though it's difficult to pick a favourite because every single thing we ate was incredible, the Shanghai Cauliflower comes out on top as it's the dish we can see ourselves going back for again and again.
